Funeral arrangements for Damien Sandow should probably be made now. That bottom portion of the bracket has some teams that are getting a totally undeserved free ride and shows the dangers of random seeding. Bulldog/Owen v. WGTT should be a hell of a deal, though.
Cactus and Funk vs Beefcake and Valentine.... damn. Still thinking.
ReplyDeleteThere are some really difficult decisions here.
ReplyDeleteI'm judging it by their tag title reigns so that's an easy one since Funk/Foley only had a one day reign.
ReplyDeleteBulldog/Owen v WGTT was indeed the toughest but went with the Hart Boys in the end just because Bulldog/Owen still had their credibility after losing the titles whereas WGTT just got turned into jobbers.
ReplyDeleteDid the New Age Outlaws vs Rock/Undertaker actually happen?
ReplyDeletemy memory is fuzzy and yeah I am right here on the Internet but I am petty sure that is who Rock and Taker beat and lost the titles too.
ReplyDeleteIt was Edge & Christian.
ReplyDelete1) can't believe I'm voting for fucking Mizdow this late but as far as all-time entities in WWE, I hate the Brothers of Destruction slightly more than Big Dick Johnson.
ReplyDelete2) were the colons in this? Primo/Carlito > Primo/Epico.
I just watched Beefcake's and Valentine's run on the network and that swayed me to vote for them.
ReplyDeleteVitamin C vs HBK and Austin was a shockingly hard choice. Went with the Canadians.
ReplyDeleteMe too, I've been voting against every wacky-tag-partners-who-hate-each-other team.
ReplyDeletePlus the problem with Austin & HBK is that they only defended the tag belts once.
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with teams where one guy is the green guy with a good look that they want to groom for the future and pairing him with a veteran and giving him someone to learn from.
ReplyDeleteWatching Savage/Steamboat from 3 and just noticed someone new, how exhausted the ref looks. Its kinda hysterical.
ReplyDeleteBeefcake is SO out of his element here... Valentine/Bravo would have been a tougher match IMO.
ReplyDeleteI love the wacky tag team that hates each other.
ReplyDeleteTThe Colons went out in the first round.
ReplyDeleteDamnit I voted for the shield without realizing wat I did.
ReplyDeleteYeah I've noticed that too. I was always surprised that Jessie didn't make fun of him for that but I guess there was too much action to notice it while watching live. Like you, I didn't notice it till my umpteenth viewing.
ReplyDeleteno guilt for me voting Austin and Dude over the Shield. I'm normally not a fan of the wacky partners, but that whole thing - right from Foley's "transformation" promo - to the "are you fucking KIDDING?" look on Austin's face during most of his celebrations as Dude Love was one of the best bits of TV I remember. That team was fun as hell.
ReplyDeleteI'm really rooting for Rockertaker and Angle / Benoit
ReplyDeleteJesse was probably exhausted, too from calling the match!
ReplyDeleteSame here
ReplyDeleteThey could have done so much more...or at ALL really, with Cade & Murdoch. They had a nice smarmy handsome cowboy/ugly redneck brawler dynamic going on. Too bad they were around at the absolute nadir of tag team wrestling, with bullshit like Deuce & Domino and the Highlanders. Were the Highlanders even IN this thing?
ReplyDeleteTJ: Stuart Scott died
ReplyDeleteI wanted to, but I just sway way more towards actual teams than just 2 singles stars thrown together.
ReplyDeleteYeah I thought Cade & Murdoch had potential to be great too. Whatever happened to them in the end? Were they one of the teams that got sent to OVW by DX?
ReplyDeleteThey just sort of...ended. They gave Trevor some dumb country singing gimmick and then cut them both. Purely a victim of Vince's manic ADD.
ReplyDeleteDidn't one of them become Jericho's protege against hbk?
ReplyDeleteOh yeeeeeah, amazing all the stuff you forget.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was waiting for a daily/NFL/other thread to mention that, but I guess this is as good a place as any.
ReplyDeleteDamn, Money Inc vs. BookDust would be pretty sweet to have happened in real life
ReplyDeleteYeah, Cade worked with Jericho, then died a year later.
ReplyDeleteI'm pushing for a long run for Adonis and Murdoch. Toughest for me was Bulldog/Owen vs. WGTT. I went with the former. Shield over Austin/Dude no doubter. Benoit and Angle over LOD as revenge for jobbing Demolition in the 1st Round.
ReplyDeleteI understand the sentiment. Reason why I picked them in Round 1 was for how awesome that whole thing was played out.
ReplyDeleteI gave a sympathy vote to Miz and Sandow, just in case anyone wonders who the 1 vote for them came from.
ReplyDelete
