Last week the blog cast its votes for the top (and worst) wrestlers and moments of 2014. The voting deadline has passed and all of the votes have been counted. Remember, a first place vote was worth five points, a second place vote was worth three points, and a third place vote was worth one point. In case of a tie, number of first place votes was used to break it.
I included the top three finishers for each category below, but if you wish to see the entire spreadsheet and how many first place, second place, and/or third place a choice received, go to this link:

Keep in mind that not all voters cast a ballot with three choices for each category and some refused to vote in some categories altogether.

BoD RAW got screwed.
ReplyDeleteI WON A DOOMIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete2015 Doomie is what I am gunning for with Best Column
ReplyDeleteWow I expected tna and japan to be a bit more represented
ReplyDeleteIt amuses me that this was taken at least somewhat seriously, or else ignored by basically everyone here, while Meekins attempt was absolutely savaged.
ReplyDeleteMeekin is the fucking worst.
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing that
ReplyDeleteSSW Recaps got as much love as BOD RAW!
ReplyDeleteA miscarriage of justice if there ever was one.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty happy with these results. Glad AJ Styles got some love...and I'm in complete agreement with the top 3 moments of the year.
ReplyDeleteTHIS. Eddie and Tajiri were LEAGUES better together than Eddie and Chavo.
ReplyDeleteYeah, La Res sucked bad.
ReplyDeleteStupid random draws...Demolition should still be in this thing!
ReplyDeleteJay Sherman?
ReplyDeleteThere was some hand-wringing, but in the end I stuck with my conceit of voting for actual teams over thrown together combinations.
ReplyDeleteYes! That would be great.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Team Hell No vs Steiners in the quarterfinals.
ReplyDeleteTajeddy gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteHaku could win most matches by himself while replacing my muffler.
ReplyDeleteI voted Inc too just because the LOD's WWF tag title run wasn't memorable in the least.
ReplyDeleteI think the height of Kane's face run was with Bryan.
ReplyDeleteHaha, was going to mention that the 2011 failed rerun improves it. I can't imagine what they must've been thinking backstage when the reaction was howling silence.
ReplyDeleteThat makes them twice as good as the Brainbusters.
ReplyDelete26 for sure is the best of the modern period.
ReplyDeleteIt was hinted at from the Slammy's and then every week, we got an update with Michael's getting more and more desperate until finally he put his career on the line. The storyline had everything you wanted - history and logic - with two guys who could back it up in style.
I hated 23 by the way - instead of just going the obvious old gunslinger has one final shot at the belt they portrayed it as "wacky tag champs who don't get along" - an angle that has worked maybe once ever (Austin/Michaels) and certainly has no place in the Main Event of Mania - great match though it was.
22 - "I get a title shot because I'm Triple H" was also pretty poor. Particularly as they had a much more obvious Main Event with a new star on their laps.
"I've been watching a lot of 2003 Smackdown recently (because when you think today's product sucks, going back and watching Vince and Mr America take a lie detector test really puts things in perspective)"
ReplyDeleteTHAT'S WHAT I WAS TELLIN' YOU BEFORE!
No, not wrong, I was just responding with a different opinion. I think it's generally accepted that the build (at least between Austin/Rock) was actually pretty weak, though? They had less than a month to toss something together, and half of that was spent on the stupid Debra storyline.
ReplyDeleteHow many times do the Natural Disasters need to beat HBK? BY GAWD! SLOBBERKNOCKER!
ReplyDeleteI think the 'boyhood dream' stuff works because it's actually true. Michaels' lifelong dream *was* to win the WWF title at Wrestlemania. He'd been preparing for that moment all his life.
ReplyDeleteAbout that...
ReplyDeleteSomething that always stuck with me, for whatever reason, is Haku (sorry, The Monster Meng) during the nWo invasion of Nitro. The night with Mysterio playing the role of lawn dart.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, while everyone is acting all distraught over their fallen comrades, Haku comes wandering by and starts mocking everyone in a different language. Just walking around menacing everyone. And then he goes nose to nose with Benoit, of all people, and laughs at him.
It always just stood out to me as a moment that was probably representative of who he really was. A remorseless guy who would absolutely fuck with anyone because he could, even during a time of tragedy.
I really liked their title match against Kane/X-Pac at Summerslam 1999.
ReplyDeleteLet's vote for Canadian Violence to beat Hart Foundation.
ReplyDeleteNah.
