It's Wednesday, which means it's new comics day here in the U.S., with new books available in comic shops and online.
This month, DC Comics continues to wrap up storylines in advance of next month's Convergence event and June's mini-relaunch, while Marvel continues its March towards Battleworld.
My pull (and I'm admittedly a DC fanboy, so you won't see too much Marvel on my lists) this week includes the three DC Comics weeklies - Future's End, Earth 2: World's End and Batman Eternal - along with the new issues of Action Comics, Constantine and Coffin Hill, a fun book from Vertigo that in my opinion needs some more love.
Other notable stuff coming out this week: new issues of Star Wars, Walking Dead, Spider-Gwen and Astro City, along with Bill & Ted's Most Triumphant Return.
What does your pull list look like?
In other news, Powers debuted yesterday on PlayStation Plus and Flash and Arrow come back to TV next week.
Anyone else watch the first three episodes of Powers?

I haven't picked up anything new in ages. How is that Spider-Gwen comic? And why does it look like she's wearing slippers?
ReplyDeleteI almost wish that Superman would finger flick Batman in BvS.

I need my eyes checked. I thought that said you wished that Superman would do something else to Batman with his finger.
ReplyDeleteI initially read that as finger fuck and wondered what the fuck you were thinking
ReplyDeleteBatman prefers BatFisting.
ReplyDeletewell done.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new job, but I think you'll find the benefits and pay are a sharp dropoff from before
ReplyDeleteThanks, McNeal, but sometimes you make sacrifices for the things you love!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha, I was just coming here to post something about "Well, this doesn't look like the lonely screams of an unemployed man at all"
ReplyDeleteSo...
ReplyDeleteAnybody play Marvel Heroes? Or Infinite Crisis? I do both, although I'm just starting to come back to IC.
WOW, that soon? I knew you guys were going soon but shit, that's crazy
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS
I watched the three episodes of Powers that debuted on PlayStation Plus yesterday (with new episodes uploaded each Tuesday for the next 7 weeks).
ReplyDeleteDespite the differences from Bendis and Oeming's comics, I thought the show stood on its own really well, especially Susan Heyward as Deena Pilgrim.
Instead of kicking off the show with the comics story of "Who KIlled Retro Girl?" they seem to be keeping Retro Girl around for a while, which is probably the biggest change to the book so far (outside of Deena Pilgrim being Black).
I'm pretty much hooked and looking forward to the rest of the season. Anyone else watch the available episodes and feel like chiming in?
Yeah but...I'm still seeing that on WWE usually...just not with Kofi Kingston. You certainly do have close finishes, comebacks, ends to feuds, dream matches. All the time. Dream matches are a bit subjective though. I'm super stoked to see if Sting/HHH can make something good. Or Bray/UT. Brock/Reigns has some intrigue to it and I'm looking forward to it to see if its gonna rock or bomb. (Apparently so are many people who just can't admit it.)
ReplyDeleteWe were going to do it in June, but the whole unemployment thing threw a wrench in the works with my health insurance. So we moved up the timeline for the civil ceremony so I can get on her insurance, but we're still doing a party/second ceremony for family and friends at the end of June.
ReplyDeleteOK good answer.
ReplyDeleteI haven't kept up with comics but my brother-in-law just came in down and dropped me the whole TPB collection of Moore's Swamp Thing as a Christmas present, I really need to get to them soon
ReplyDeleteI hope we get Gladiator in a Marvel movie at some point. I just want him to at full Gladiator mode, take out the Avengers (as a demonstration, not kill them), and then get bitch slapped by Thanos.
ReplyDeleteInfinity War part 1 or 2 would be appropriate I think.
That's baller, we've had this trip to Germany planned since last year, I'm really itching to just surprise her and do the deed when we're over there
ReplyDeleteI don't know what her reaction would be though
No worries about insurance. Unless you're going to die soon. It's a bit late with life insurance.
ReplyDeleteI played a bit of IC when the beta went live, but MOBAs have never been my thing and I kind of gave up on it pretty quick.
ReplyDeleteYou can massage your ego by playing vs. the AI now. Really relaxing, and good practice for new characters.
ReplyDeleteI kind of need the health insurance, otherwise I would go broke pretty quick.
ReplyDeleteAmazing.
ReplyDeleteJust randomly have your marriage license on hand as an officiant walks by?
ReplyDeleteAs a bonus, we're headed to Mexico for a week at the beach next Thursday. It's a de facto honeymoon for now, despite the fact that my parents will be there.
Extant, how was the Bill and Ted comic? I'm kinda thinking I might, maybe pick that up sometime.
ReplyDeleteNevermind, I see I misread.
ReplyDeleteNo, we're going to touring churches and stuff like that anyway, I thought it would be romcom movie shit if we showed up at one and her parents were already there, and we just sort of walked in and got married
ReplyDeleteEven if it wasn't official or anything I don't know, it seems like it would be awesome to me, I just don't know if she'd react poorly to having some of the shine from the August thing taken away
I'm been trapped in a loop overthinking this shit for like 2 months now lol
No worries. From the preview of the comic on comixology, it looks like fun, though. If I didn't feel the need to ration what I'm buying for the time being, I probably would have picked it up myself.
ReplyDeleteEh, as long as you're doing it again in August with family and friends, I think it's probably a sweet gesture. Just call it a practice run for the big event.
ReplyDeleteThat is a remarkably simple explanation I hadn't considered yet, thank you
ReplyDeleteI've had a lot of free time on my hands to consider stupid shit like this.
ReplyDeleteYeah? I saw some early stuff, I think on Newsarama back a while, and it looked pretty neat. Plus, I recently rewatch the first movie with my kids and remembered how much I loved it.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna quit doing the Job#2 thing in June or so, that's when all this will really ramp up, in the mean time that really kills a lot of the stress because I just don't have time to think about anything
ReplyDeleteYou're a dick, Steven/Extant. You lied to me about not wanting to post here. But here we are.
ReplyDeleteIt was true when I said it...
ReplyDeleteI've been playing a little bit of Champions Online lately. Just to scratch that old City of Heroes itch.
ReplyDeleteSo hey, cult, how about that Roman Reigns, eh?
ReplyDeleteObviously, you means Roman Reigns' depiction in the WWE Superstars comic book, which was recently cancelled, right?
ReplyDeleteThey're fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThe Anatomy Lesson. Blows my mind even now.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't yet, get All-New Hawkeye #1. It came out last week. Loved the art and that it didn't deviate from Fraction's run in terms of tone.
ReplyDeleteCan't imagine picking up the two non batman weeklies. Especially that Morrison crap. Not getting mine till tomorrow due to snow. Astro City, Batman Eternal, JLU, Ant-Man, FF, New Avengers and Star Wars. Incredibly heavy week for me. A culling is quickly approaching.
ReplyDeleteI'm a "Wait for the Trade" guy and money's been tight to pick up much. But most recently, I picked up:
ReplyDelete1) Sex Criminals, Vol. 2 - This is seriously the best comic in the industry right now and you should be ashamed if you're not reading it.
2) Chew, Vol. 8 - God, I'm going to miss this series when it ends. It's got some of the most hilarious but also right-in-the-feels moments of any comic. Especially the end of this one, which nearly sent me in to a rage.
3) JLA, Vol. 1 - The first volume of Grant Morrison's run on JLA. I've owned it before (both in single issues and then later trades), but this is the most comprehensive collection to date. I discovered the second volume cheap at Value Village a few weeks ago, too. I'm happy that this collection series goes beyond Morrison's run, too. I can't wait to pick up the Mark Waid volume because it even collects his never before collected JLA: Heaven's Ladder, which was phenomenal.
Only complaint about this particular collection series is that the similar hardcovers had Morrison's JLA: Earth 2 one-shot and the JLA: Classified storyarc
Nice! They're great. If you haven't, I recommend the new 52 Swamp Thing title, as well. At least as far as the Rotworld arc where he teams up with Animal Man (another amazing title). That's as far as I read of both titles, but they're both great.
ReplyDeleteOf course!
ReplyDeleteThey resized Heaven's Ladder to fit in a standard collection? That was one of those oversized books originally, wasn't it? I have it either around my apartment somewhere or up with the rest of my comics with my parents. It's been forever since I've read it.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you find that new job soon so that you can continue to fund your comic habit and continue to blog about it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have a collection of All-Star Squadron, which ran from 1981 to 1987 for 67 issues and 3 annuals. It also includes 3 JLA issues from a JLA-JSA-All Star Squadron crossover. I'm missing issues 47 (which is a Todd McFarlane and a Dr. Fate origin issue) and I'm missing the final issue of 67, which is a re-telling of a JSA story.
Anyone want this? All in good to mint condition.
Less than 50 comments before someone tried to turn this into a marketplace. Well done!
ReplyDeleteHey, I started with the compliments first.
ReplyDeleteSo........interested? ;-)
Eh, they'll be far and few between among all the other discussions, I imagine.
ReplyDeleteAsk me again after I get back from Mexico in two weeks. I may have a real job by then.
ReplyDeleteWarning: Shameless Self Promotion
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of comics and comics-related stuff, BUY MY BOOK. It's like Mickey Spillane meets Ninja Turtles. And its sequel will be out late April-ish!

This is, by the way, your fault, Piers. I emailed Scott to ask him about someone doing a weekly comic book thread and he gave me posting creds. I had zero intention of doing something like this, but took the opportunity when offered.
ReplyDeleteHe wouldn't be the first.
ReplyDeleteI dont feel its egotistical.
ReplyDeleteIf you are a paying fan your voice should matter.
It doesnt but it should. Thats the reality.
I feel that if you get over, no matter bass ackwards you come across, mgmt should push you.
Mgmt should also have their pet projects as well.
Thats where the problem lies.
If im vince and I like reigns and his thighs, im going to do whatver it takes to get him over. Im putting money behind him in hopes of a return on the investment. Now the return has to justify the push, so tyats more money dumped into someone who is not getting as over as hoped.
Meanwhile this other guy has been given nothing and is betting my pets reaction.
Do I abandon my project and run with the other guy or do I let it play out cuz you never know?
sorry for the tl dr, but my tangent I feel is just the tip of iceberg when it comes to bryan vs reigns from a business aspect. I dont claim to know anything but I feel this is just a small scenario on why someone is pushed.
Don't be. We got a weekly comics discussion thread now. I'm happy enough with that.
ReplyDeleteWe'll consider it penance for stealing my thunder for this new weekly discussion thread.
ReplyDeleteI was really pissed when they ended the Animal Man title, because it was a great story with fantastic art. I felt the same way when they cancelled Frankenstein. Some really great, weird stuff that started with the New 52 got left behind really quick.
ReplyDeleteDitto on Frankenstein. That was a fun comic. Same for OMAC. Anything that wasn't already a big, established name was on the chopping block pretty soon. Sad, really.
ReplyDeleteWhich is why I wish I had more hope for some of the weird titles coming from this upcoming soft reboot. I'm sure it'll be great, but I doubt Black Canary or Starfire will make it to 20 issues.
"Tony promises this is just the beginning." The beginning of poor kb's total nervous breakdown having to recap what' coming....
ReplyDeleteDamn Humble Bundle. I thought I could control myself, then this happened:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.humblebundle.com/books
Never been a fan of the comic, myself, but damn that's a great deal.
ReplyDeleteI have the All Star Squadron collected TPBs. Very good bronze age DC stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe Daily Show appearance actually helped Rollins' mainstream appeal quite a bit. My dad, of all people, was asking me "who's this wrestler picking on Jon Stewart?"
ReplyDeletesame with me, I have stacks of post AvsX marvel stuff that for some reason I just keep waiting to read and also keep adding to. All of Superior Spider Man, all of Waid DD, Venom, Scarlet Spider, Wolverine and the X-Men. Wish I had a week off and away from the family to just read it all.
ReplyDeleteDear sweet merciful spaghetti monster SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
ReplyDeleteHickman's Avengers/New Avengers run is fucking incredible. His Doctor Doom in particular. What a magnificient fucking bastard of a character!
ReplyDeleteI dropped GL after Godhead, because it just wasn't sustaining my interest. But as Green Arrow slowly introduces characters from the TV show, it's gotten a bit more fun. Hopefully, they keep the momentum post-Convergence.
ReplyDeleteAnd then certain people can say it was WWE's plan all along.
ReplyDeletePurchased and downloading onto my Surface now.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but Screamin' Norman Smiley, with Ralphus was never going to get over.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you were Extant. Huh... You live in Brooklyn, right? Which comic shop do you go to?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm not really good about keeping up with superhero comics. I've been trying to read the New 52 weekly because I like Jeff Lemire a lot, but I'm probably 2 months behind at any given time on that and it's a pain to remember which issues I have to buy.
And hopefully the garage door won't be open at his and Brie's house in June 2017. Yes, very tasteless - but hey anyone could go Benoit at any given moment.
ReplyDeleteNot Brooklyn, Queens.
ReplyDeleteUsually, I buy my comics every week online and read them on my tablet, because I just don't have the space to store new comics and usually don't have the time to hit up a comic shop. When I DO go to a comic shop, though, I usually hit up Midtown Comics in Times Square (which was apparently visited by George Lucas yesterday!) or the shop that's connected to the last stop on the Q in Astoria, Silver Age Comics. That's probably where I'll go to get my Free Comic Book Day stuff in May.
Well he was playing a fake Jamacian and they decided to admit he was just a regular dude. That killed his career. If Shamus admitted he was just a kid from the Bronx, his career would be dead too.
ReplyDeleteSimply answer guys - start your own wrestling promotion and hire him.
ReplyDeleteI want to believe there are only a 100 comments in a Daniel Bryan buried thread because most of the Blog has not been to the site today. Maybe even the IWC has given up their rage in the Daniel Bryan burial saga?
ReplyDeleteResignation has set in.
ReplyDeletePeople don't even have the energy to get angry anymore. This is fast turning into the Apathy Era.
All it'll take is a few more Kane/Big Show main event combinations, and another few months of the IC being treated like that vase grandma got someone for Christmas once that's been re-gifted through the whole family twice, and the transformation will be complete.
Then.
Now.
Eh... Whatever.
Humble Bundle is awesome. And you can feel good about stupid spending, as part of it goes to charity.
ReplyDeleteLast Books bundle I bought had programming books for kids (and a bunch of Lego books, and books like "The Manga Guide to Physics"), and I've bought more game bundles than I care to admit.
I'm convinced Taker shoes up to squash Satanic Waylon Mercy Jr.
ReplyDeleteWhen they turned The Atom into Iron Man, I was out. I still love Flash more than I have any right to, though.
ReplyDeleteWill you be reviewing Mary Worth and Apartment 3G?
ReplyDeleteMidtown is a good store. I don't like the one with all the superhero comics as much because it's just superhero comics and I like other stuff.
ReplyDeleteBuying them on your tablet is a really good idea. I need to go back to that because I usually throw out the comics I've read anyway.
I've always wondered about that with parents. Thankfully, my mom didn't have an issue with whatever I wanted to do (which is why I'm the upstanding nerd I am now), but it's always baffled me when parents had an issue.
ReplyDeleteIt's like "What am I supposed to spend my money on? Mutual funds? I'm frickin' 15!"
Exactly this.
ReplyDeleteThey will give literally anyone a column here!
ReplyDeleteThis season was supposed to feature Ted Kord as Blue Beetle, but the rights weren't available, so they changed the character to Ray Palmer as The Atom. I imagine they just left in some aspects of what they wanted to do with Kord with Palmer.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind it as much, to be honest.
I know, right? Suckers.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of a special 52-part retrospective on Family Circus.
ReplyDeleteSeriously though I don't get into comics anymore because I know I will be too lazy to keep up with it week to week... these sound pretty good though... seems like DC has been rebooting for like a decade now.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I bought a tablet, I switched to digital.
ReplyDeleteIf I was still living upstate, with the local comic shop I used to frequent, I don't think I would have gone completely digital, because I used to love going there every Wednesday. But I never found a comic shop in the City that I felt any real connection to.
They basically have been. Infinite Crisis in 2005 was supposed to be a mini-reboot, followed by Final Crisis, followed by Flashpoint and the New 52, and now Convergence.
ReplyDeleteEventually they have to let a status quo be a status quo, right?
You would think.
ReplyDeleteThomas Hall gave that kid his Doritos...and now he's IN THE FUTURE!
ReplyDeleteImagine how low level you are if DC/WB doesn't let you use Blue Beetle.
ReplyDeleteBest storyline: the Ultra Humanite/Secret Society of Super Villains. It introduced Infinity Inc.
ReplyDeleteI think they were planning a Blue Beetle TV show at some point. So the TV rights were jumbled.
ReplyDeleteYeah...it's hard to connect to the comic shops here. I really liked Jim Hanley's by the Empire State Tower before it closed. They had a wide range of knowledge and I could buy superhero comics and other stuff. I like when the staff can say, "Hey, you like The Flash and Tales Designed to Thrizzle, so you'd like this!"
ReplyDeleteBut I like this tablet idea..I can't believe it didn't occur to me before. Then I could just see what I bought last and buy what I need to catch up on.
I've got Howard the Duck, Bill and Ted, Teen Dog, Walking Dead, East of West and The new Prophet trade. Pretty good week. Really looking forward to reading Howard. Chip Zdarsky is hilarious so I think he's a perfect fit for Howard.
ReplyDeleteHe was also brought back to boost the Smackdown! return to Thursdays.
ReplyDeleteI use Comixology, which is great, except you can read the books in-app, but you can't buy them in-app if you're on an iOS or Android device. You can on a Microsoft device, because no one ever updates these apps.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, you have to go to the Comixology website, buy them there, and then download them onto your device.
Apparently, when Amazon bought Comixology, they decided they didn't want to give Apple any of their money and switched the purchasing process. Not a huge pain in the ass, but an extra step none-the-less.
I dug it too. Feels pretty close to the Fraction vibe but it should come out regularly.
ReplyDeleteYou could also add Foley to the list really. I'd say that things worsened when the first generation of smark fans (fans with deep knowledge of the inner-works of pro-wrestling, not those who knew wrestling was staged as that was known for decades, basically the first internet generation whom are in their mid-30's now) became wrestlers, with their heads filled of dreams of stardom instead of the most pragmatic view of simply making a living.
ReplyDeleteMuch less glamorous of course, but it might had led to them being less marks for themselves.
My fiancee's brother did in fact spend his money on mutual funds at 15. There's a reason he has a LOT more money than we do.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds incredibly frustrating, but it's no big deal. The Kindle app works the same way. I'm going to go to Comixology tonight and figure out what I have to buy because there are several superhero comics I really enjoy and I'd rather read them on the day they come out than wait a few months and try to figure out what I have to get.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Is Bill & Ted done by Evan Dorkin again? He made some most excellent Bill & Ted comics before.
ReplyDeleteI'll buy all the Valiant comics because I really like those.
I'll also buy East of West. I'm not normally a fan of Jonathan Hickman...I think he tends to miss characterization in favor of plot...but I like that book. It's kinda fun to see all the different factions on the road to war with each other.
I thinks that's all I'll get this week.
If you overlay all of the paths taken by Jeffy in the comics, it reveals a spell to summon Satan.
ReplyDeleteSee if there's any referral spot when you sign up for Comixology! I'm hoping for a referral discount!
ReplyDeleteI had my quip planned out but that bastard Parallax stole it. So now I've got nothing to say. But i wholly support this column.
ReplyDeleteMan screw it I'm doing the line.
HA They'll give anyone a column around here!
Wow, from Caliber's editor to the main page, you're moving up in the world Ferrari!
ReplyDeleteNorman Smiley will always be over in my heart.
ReplyDeleteI fell out of East of West a while ago, but I can't really remember why. I love love love Nightly News and Pax Romana, but (imo), Hickman's later creator-owned stuff hasn't hit that level for me.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I wanted to do another mid-1990s WCW column, so maybe one day I can work my way up to the big leagues.
ReplyDeleteTHE BOYHOOD DREAM HAS COME TRUE!
ReplyDeleteOne thing I like about Comixology is that for some of the books (mostly my Image stuff, I think), you can download a PDF or CBR file.
ReplyDeleteNINJA KICK BULLSHIT
ReplyDeleteThat. I ain't even mad anymore, I'll just watch NXT every week, go to Mania, and fuck everything else.
ReplyDeleteI agree. We all expected Reigns to win the Rumble but the way it was done and the follow up has made everyone look awful.
ReplyDeleteMy dad was a banker. I'm surprised that isn't exactly what he thought I should use my money on.
ReplyDeleteI say this with all due respect, but I think it's kinda funny you say that while still using a Parallax user pic.
ReplyDeleteBill and Ted is written by Brian Lynch who hasn't done a lot of stuff that I'm familiar with. He did some of the idw tmnt stuff but that's all I know.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I've bought several of the indie game Humble Bundles. Severely expanded my Steam library with very little money.
ReplyDeleteI don't see how this booking would get Vince hard, though.
ReplyDeleteI only buy trades.
ReplyDeleteTake THAT, Dan Slott.
He's going to main event a lot of pre-shows and I for one can't wait :)
ReplyDeleteI'm curious if anyone has noticed that my avatar is a picture of Wolverine by the notorious Greg Land in which he has blatantly traced a photo of Triple H.
ReplyDeleteLAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!!
ReplyDeleteSlott has something against trades? I can't stand him in general, but I hadn't heard about the trades thing.
ReplyDeleteHe went on an anti-waiting for the trades tirade a while back, saying it was hurting monthly books.
ReplyDeleteNo, no they can't.
ReplyDeleteWe've given up hope.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting to be disappointed by Sami Zayn's ascension to and burial on three main roster.
You must mean Bobby Lindsay
ReplyDeleteFinal Crisis didn't reboot shit.
ReplyDeleteI feel what you are saying, but they have 300 hours of tv per week. Hell, they even have separate shows. They can push more than one guy at a time. Jobbing Bryan to push Reigns is stupid when it's completely unnecessary
ReplyDeleteIt was meant as a tonal shift that didn't really pan out.
ReplyDeleteHe needs to go to NXT. Isn't Samoa Joe headed there?
ReplyDeleteOf all the places I believe Shamus was from, the Bronx would only be above Bradenton, FL. Of course, Boston would be number 1 cause that's where all Irish people go. That and South Bend, IN
ReplyDeleteThat's impossible. If he was Triple H, he would have already taken over the Marvel Universe, and be about halfway done with DC.
ReplyDeleteHe's right.
ReplyDeleteI am convinced they are keeping Bryan there in case of emergency, as someone stated below. You know, just in case Lesnar walks....just in case there are 10,000 empty seats at Mania....just in case ratings keep plummeting.
ReplyDeleteDid Land trace back in his CrossGen days? Because all the ones I can recall were with Marvel.
ReplyDeleteI hate Marvel management and personnel in general. Wacker loves to troll on CBR.
ReplyDeleteEverybody keep doing it then.
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Jokes on him, anyway. I haven't bought a Spider-Man title since before One More Day, anyway. He hasn't gotten a cent of my money.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't change the validity of the comment, though...
ReplyDeleteWell, I would call this a successful first outing!
ReplyDeleteLOL, good point.
ReplyDeleteWhat? Smiley was majorly over.
ReplyDeleteI say, sir! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI think the WWE also knows that Bryan isn't going to put up much of a fight. He has stated before that he just takes what they give him and makes the best of it. This isn't a Stone Cold/HBK situation where he would just say "That sucks, I'm not doing it" and force their hand.
ReplyDeleteBryan seems pretty grateful to have gotten his Wrestlemania Moment and now he'll just keep moving along.
You just snark sniped a fellow snark sniper!
ReplyDelete"Just"? I did that almost a day ago!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for Reigns/Brock. I'm super curious about how it will go, probably for the wrong reasons
ReplyDeleteMy current monthly pull list, ongoings and minis, is: Angel & Faith, Astro City, Avengers, Avengers World, Bill & Ted's Most Triumphant Return, Buffy TVS Season 10, Deadpool, Django/Zorro, Gotham Academy, Green Lantern, GL Corps, GL: New Guardians, Hawkeye (the Fraction/Aja one), Howard the Duck, Justice League, JL 3000, New Avengers, Red Lanterns, Return of the Living Deadpool, Saga, Secret Six, Sex Criminals, Sinestro, The Autumnlands: Tooth & Claw, The Fade Out (or anything by Brubaker & Phillips) & the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. Plus any new League of Extraordinary Gentlemen material. I read a lot of other series in trades.
ReplyDeleteDaniel Bryan is too small for Vince. On the hierarchy of the WWE, the only status worse than being too small is Benoit status.
ReplyDeleteI was going to trade-wait it, but it was a light week for me so I picked up #1. And I'm glad I did, as it's pretty good. It doesn't go too far off base. If you like the flicks, it's safe to say you'll dig the comic.
ReplyDeleteJL 3000/3001 is so much fun. Seriously one of my favorite current books at the moment.
ReplyDeleteHe ripped off Brian Bolland's Joker in "The Killing Joke" something fierce in an issue of JLA.
ReplyDeleteWho cares about the reason? You're interested.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm a Marvel kind of guy, specifically Spider-Man related comics. Decided to see what came out today that are in my pulls, and wow way too much. Couldn't make it to the shop today but going tommorow, so here's my list for this week:
ReplyDeleteSonic the Hedgehog #270
Spider-Man & the X-Men #4
Spider-Man 2099 #10
Miles Morales: ultimate Spider-Man #11
Howard the Duck #1
Deadpool #43
Amazing Spider-Man Special #1
Amazing Spider-Man #16
Spider-Gwen #2
As for other comics I have in pulls that don't come out this week:
ReplyDeleteTransformers
Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye (Still my fav monthly comic right now)
Squirrel Girl
Mega-Man
Sonic Universe
Gold Digger
Spider-Woman
Return of the Night of the Living Deadpool
Rocket Raccoon
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mighty Mutanimals
The Autumnlands: Tooth & Claw
Usagi Yojimbo (when it returns)
and I think that's it atm.
I found her way hotter than either.
ReplyDeleteI usually did too. I'm not the biggest blonde fan in the world, though they're too exceptions.
ReplyDeleteYup, bought it. $16 for all THAT? Yes please.
ReplyDeleteDamn -- I wish I'd known. Last week Humble Bundle had a TON of Transformers MtMtE e-comics. I'll be sure to post here when I see something people might like.
ReplyDeleteI'm super interested in the crowd reactions. I'm not sure that's what the WWE were going for when they booked it.
ReplyDeleteTo elaborate on the above, since it's pre-planned it's ridiculous that 2/3 of the roster aren't over and have an air of "loser" about them, resulting in audience apathy for 2/3 of most cards. That's just ridiculous for something that's pre-planned, especially when compared to eras past when everyone was kept relatively strong and booked smartly enough to keep them over.
I actually did pick it up even though I had all the comics in print form already heh.
ReplyDeleteIt was meant to set up New 'New Gods' stuff, but they gave the event to Morrison and... no-one can follow Morrison. Same problem will happen with Secret Wars 2015: like how can anyone follow Hickman's Avengers run? Dude is straight up dropping the mic every issue with crazy shit.
ReplyDeleteEh regardless, im glad you got him, that guy gets me all the time.
ReplyDeleteYeah, fair point for sure.
ReplyDeleteThe title wasn't on the level of the world title at Wrestlemania 6. The guy holding it was. The IC title went from Honky to Warrior to Rude to Warrior. The belt wasn't any higher status than it was in '91-92 with Perfect/Hart/Bulldog/Michaels. It was just that Warrior, who was ready for the world title, happened to be holding the IC belt going into Mania 6.
ReplyDeleteWrestlemania VI was title for title. Hulk Hogan was fighting to win the Intercontinental Title. The titles were equal at that point.
ReplyDeleteLoser? Harsh.
